Glen Ridge resident gets renovation project award Glen Ridge resident and architect Francis Klein, AIA, of Francis C. Klein and Associates, Montclair, has received the annual Award for Excellence in the Built Environment from the New Jersey Society of Architects, Newark/Suburban chapter. The formal presentation was made on Feb. 1 by the New Jersey Society of Architects Chapter President Constance Gill, AIA, at the Essex House in West Orange.

The award-winning commission, a renovation project in Glen Ridge, was cited for its creative and historically sensitive interpretation of Victorian ornament in a master bedroom suite with a bath and dressing room. Klein used the ornamentation to preserve the character and style of the Victorian house on Hillside Avenue in the township's Historic District.

Klein, a graduate of Harvard University and the Yale School of Architecture, was associated with the firms of I.M. Pei and Partners and James S. Polshek and Partners in New York prior to forming his own practice in 1984. He has completed numerous residential renovations, additions and commercial projects in the Montclair - Glen Ridge area. The firm is located at 416 Bloomfield Ave., Montclair.
