Some of our satisfied clients.

Patrick and Carol DeCelie

We loved our 1920s Glen Ridge side-hall colonial home with its wood floors & chestnut moldings. However, like many old houses, it had a small kitchen, lacked a first floor bathroom, master bath & had a shortage of closet space. We wanted to address these shortcomings and ensure that the new space be consistent with the period of the home. That is why we chose to work with Francis Klein. He has great credentials and had been on the board of the town Historic Commission. Because of this, we were confident that he would tie the old and new space together so that it looked like it was always there.

The results exceeded our expectations and have made a huge difference in our quality of life. We were delighted when it was completed and still are, 10 years later. The kitchen layout is unique, has many windows, and is the warmest room in the house. The sun porch is a great space to read a book and we feel that our block is a little nicer for all our neighbors.

Based on our experience and satisfaction, we can sincerely recommend Francis Klein and Associates.

Robin and Robert Dushman

Francis Klein designed a combination kitchen and family room addition to our home. He succeeded in taking our goals and a large number of existing constraints and translating them into a functional and architecturally interesting space. This bright and airy room has become the focus of our family living.

Because Francis is intelligent, thoughtful, and meticulous, we found the design process interesting and exciting. Francis responded to our questions promptly and produced drawings and specifications on schedule. He urged us to finalize as much of the plan as possible during the design phase, knowing that he would not be present during construction. As a result, there were very few changes in the plans during construction, few questions from the contractors, and the construction went extraordinarily smoothly.

From the outside the 12’x20′ addition is attractive and blends comfortably with the style of our 1950’s garrison colonial. From the inside the cathedral ceiling, skylights and medium blue interior wall with windows that rises from 7′ to approximately 15′ is far more interesting. Fran integrated the interior of the new with the old through the style of windows, wood floors and trim. We have been very, very pleased with the results.

It is not often that an architect of unquestionable professional competence is also adept at dealing with the human and cultural aspects of a location and a project. Francis Klein is one of few such men.
